About

At the original Redwood Hill Farm, also known as Capracopia—we celebrate dairy goats and farm life while producing quality, artisan food products. Capracopia is a combination of two words: first Capra which is the genus of mammals comprised of goats, and Copia which is part of the word Cornucopia. We’ve all seen the curved basket with abundance spilling out. That curved basket is reputed to have originally been a goat horn! Therefore Capracopia references goats, the stars of the farm, and our diverse farm products are the abundance spilling out of “the horn of plenty”.

We are located in the town of Sebastopol in Sonoma County. Our farm is nestled among the picturesque redwood trees of the northern California coast and is about 60 miles north of San Francisco.

Dairy goats are the primary focus at our diversified family farm. Their Grade A milk supplies Redwood Hill Farm & Creamery with milk for award-winning goat dairy products. In addition, we supply quality dairy goat breeding stock for farmers across the United States. Our farm has diversified over the years. It includes a hop yard, olive grove, fruit orchard, vegetable garden, flower field, and flock of heritage breed chickens.

Environmental sustainability has always been a farm priority. Our dairy, barns and two homes are powered by solar energy. In addition, we have installed rainwater catchment tanks for irrigation and water conservation. The goat manure is composted and used for our growing crops and gardens. We believe in quality animal welfare and are proud to have been the first goat dairy in the United States to be Certified Humane® in 2005.
